Referring to your latter of the 16th, May regarding the release of men from the army after the war,

I am directed to suggest that the London Agents of Hongkong firms should be instructed to supply to the Under-Secretary of State at the Colonial Office the names and regimental numbers of the men whose early release is required.

This Government/will, for its part, ask the Secretary of State that all possible steps may be taken to

secure the release and the sending back to the Colony of the

men nimed.
